"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."

~  Winston Churchill

The Town of Eden, working in coordination with the Eden Garden Club Beautification Committee and the NY Main Street Grant Selection Committee, submitted a request to fund a “beautification streetscape project.” The project’s objective is beautification of the commercial district in the Four Corners area by adding pedestrian friendly amenities, landscape features, and visual enhancements.

The scope includes: replacing hanging flower baskets with self-watering baskets, replacing potted planters along sidewalks, replacing park benches, installing raingardens, installing bike racks, installing new trash receptacles, Chamber Park updates, and professional design services to help with flower gardens along sidewalks and curb areas. A new Cultivate Eden logo will be included as a design element. Existing planters, benches, and trash cans in good condition will be repurposed in Town, where possible. This is considered Phase I of the beautification effort with additional work envisioned as budget permits.

Boys & Girls Club requested money to support the Healthy Habits Cooking Club.  The Cooking Club addresses healthy food choices, meal preparation, and encourages independence and interpersonal skills and funds would be used for a range/oven, refrigerator, kitchen sink, shelving, a variety of bakeware and small kitchen appliances and accessories, and misc. expenses.

The Board approved and awarded the Boys & Girls Club $1,950 for the Cooking Club.

Eden Chamber requested funds for additional holiday snowflake lighting in Town.  Over several years the Chamber has purchased 36 holiday snowflake decorations for Eden and East Eden funded by the ECF and the Chamber’s fundraisers.  Install is done by the highway department.  There are 17 remaining poles with electricity and this year’s request is to purchase 6-8 more lights.  The ECF has provided $5,886 toward these decorations over the past 14 years including $3,000 in 2017.

The Board approved and awarded the Eden Chamber $1,750.

Eden Recreation requested funds to support Slow Roll Eden event planned for June 29, 2018.  This is a bicycling event in town, along with after-party and band music, expecting about 300 participants, half from outside Eden, in coordination with GOBike Buffalo.

The Eden Community Foundation approved and awarded Eden Recreation $1,250 .

The Eden-North Collins Food Pantry used a grant to purchase new, more portable tables that they use each week for food distribution to between 60 and 70 families in the Eden and North Collins area. With more than 106 families registered, the need for assistance is constant and the pantry uses about 6,000 pounds of food each month which they purchase through the Food Bank of WNY and also receive from food drives.

The Eden Quilt Guild received a grant in 2012 to create a frame for their commemorative Bicentennial Quilt which was presented to the Town of Eden.
